Women Portrayed and Betrayed
IntroductionThe image of women has changed over time. This website is designed to inform about problems women face in four fields: workforce, sports, military and politics. We do not wish to persuade or give opinion, but to illustrate through these cartoons how women are portrayed in society. Each page has four political cartoons representing real struggles that happen. These cartoons portray how women are viewed, and we have found often times society's portrayals betray the very people they are. Each cartoon has an analysis about what is being said and what it represents. We also hope to highlight some of the positives in these various fields as a lot of these issues are heavy subjects, and many are widely debated. Each team member worked on a specific field and is attributed at the top of the page.
Key things to look for: Symbolism: Simple things stand for larger concepts. Exaggeration: Features are emphasized to help prove a point. Labeling: Added labels to show representation. Analogy: Providing examples of a different situation to help prove a point. Irony: Expecting how something should happen, or how it should be, and a different outcome emerges. |
